Our programs are structured with the highest regard for safety, while offering quality instruction and preservation of the environment and striving to stay number one in the jungle of customer service.

Summer Youth Adventure Camp
A.P.E. Adventure camps provide kids with high quality in-depth instruction in a variety of outdoor adventure activities. This weeklong series of “day trips” include activities such as hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, inflatable kayaking, and white-water rafting. This is a week the kids will never forget!
Dates: July 29- Aug. 1
Time: 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
Learn all about the equipment, basic paddling skills and the kayak roll, all in the comfort of the heated indoor pool. All equipment is supplied.
Dates: Aug. 1, 14, Sep. 4, 12
Cost: $20 (1st time), $15 (repeat)
Time: 5-8:30 p.m.
NEW! White Water Kayak Day Trip
(Mandatory Prerequisite: Kayak Pool Session)
This program begins with the basics of Kayaking that you were taught during the pool session. Now we will put that to use on the Arkansas River. While on the river you will learn to read water and respond to the currents.
Dates: Aug. 16
Time: 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
Cost: $40 per person
Start out with a pool session then head out on a class I-II section of river working on all your new skills. We will camp Saturday evening on the river. Sunday we will move onto class II-III whitewater working on intermediate skills.
Dates: Sept. 4,6,7
Times: Thu. (5-8:30 p.m.), Sat.-Sun. 7 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
Cost: $150 per person
Enjoy a fun and wild ride through Big Horn Sheep Canyon on the mighty Arkansas River. You will be a key element as your guide calls out commands and steers you through Colorado’s most classic rapids. No experience is necessary (individuals must be able to swim and weigh a minimum of 60 lbs). Spots fill up quickly, so reserve your trip today! Price includes lunch!

Cost: $50/person, $47/person (5 or more)
Royal Gorge Whitewater Rafting
If you want to go big, join us on this trip. We’ll descend into the rough rapids of the Royal Gorge (individuals must be able to swim aggressively, weigh at least 100 lbs and be 16+ years of age). Spots fill up quickly, so reserve your trip today! Price includes lunch!

NEW! Family Full Day
Want a full day on the water with the family? Whitewater rapids, swimming, splashing, and play are the emphasis on this full day excursion on the Arkansas River. NO experience necessary (individuals must be able to swim, weight a minimum of 60 lbs. and be 8+ years old).

Time: 7 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Cost: $75/person, $55/person under 14, includes lunch
How to Mountain Bike
Make the transition from just riding around to mountain biking. Come join our instructors one evening after work. Learn to ride over obstacles, climb, descend, and turning in the rough stuff. This course starts easy and moves through tougher terrain.

Weekend Dates: Sept. 20, Oct. 25
Weekend Time: 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Cost: $15, includes bike rental
Bicycle Maintenance Class
No matter what kind of bike you have, it needs to be maintained. You’ll learn how to change tires, fix flats, adjust brakes, set the derailleur, and true wheels. We have all the tools you need, Just bring your bike.

Time: 5:30-7:30 p.m.
NEW! Park Tool School
An intermediate 8-hour course over 3 evening sessions and is taken from the Park Tool School curriculum. Our instructors will teach you to tune and maintain your mountain or road bike.
Dates: July 16, 23, 30 (must attend all classes)
Time: 5:30-8:00 p.m.
Pike’s Peak Downhill
Check out the best views atop Pike’s Peak, then glide on your bike down the Pike’s Peak Highway with our instructors. This trip includes a ride to the top of the mountain, and van support the whole ride down, bike rental, and instruction.
Climbing Wall Orientation
Intro to knots, belay techniques and climbing communication. Certify to climb the indoor climbing wall at the Outdoor Rec. Center & Iron Horse PFC.
Dates: Tues. at Iron Horse Gym and Thurs. at Outdoor Rec. (Except Holidays)
Time: 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Outdoor Rock Instruction
(Recommended Prerequisite: Climbing Wall Orientation)
Join the APE guides into the realm of the vertical world! You will be introduced to basic body movements and route selection and safety around the rocks.
Dates: Aug. 17; Sept. 27; Oct. 18.
Time: 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
New Mexico Climbing Weekend (Recommended Prerequisite: Climbing Wall Orientation)
Discover the climbing area of Sugarite Canyon. This area has great single pitch climbing and beautiful scenic camping.
Dates: Sep. 12-14
Times: Fri.-Sun. 5-7 p.m.
Kota Longboarding Betties
Just for the ladies...learn how to longboard with a Kota Longboard Instructor! Longboards, protective gear and a great time will be provided. Sign up at ITR at the Outdoor Recreation Complex.
