Adventure Programs and Education teaches the necessary skills for good decision-making in the great outdoors. Programs are structured with the highest regard for customer service, safety and preservation of the environment.

 

Adventure Programs & Education offers a broad range of trips and instructional courses. Call to schedule private trips,

SKI/SNOWBOARD

 

Taos, NM Ski and Snowboard Getaway

Discover the “Soul of the South” in Taos, New Mexico! Ski and snowboard your troubles away on this weekend getaway that won’t disappoint. Cost includes transportation, lodging and two breakfasts. Trip meets at and departs from the Outdoor Recreation Complex.

 

Dates: Feb. 13-15, 2016

Time:  7 a.m. Saturday - 8 p.m. Monday Cost: $210 (for 1st & 2nd person per room)              $100 (for 3rd & 4th person per room)

Learn to Ski & Snowboard Trips

Want to learn how to ski or snowboard? Join us for a day at Monarch Ski area and get professional instruction during the first half of the day, then test your skills all afternoon. Learn to conquer Colorado’s beautiful and snowy mountain terrain!

Cross Country Skiing

Experience an age-old style of traveling in a winter environment. Join us for a day in the Rocky Mountains while learning the basics of cross-country skiing. Instruction and transportation provided.

 

Dates: March 13 (2016)

Time: 6 a.m.-6 p.m. (Pick up and drop off at the 8th Street Hobby Lobby.)

Cost: $25 (includes ski rental)

 

Backcountry Ski & Snowboard

Are you sick of the lift lines at resorts? Come learn the skills necessary to travel in the backcountry while experiencing the solitude and freedom of the hills, which makes backcountry skiing & snowboarding so unique. Spend the day out on the snow and ride the freshest Colorado powder!

 

Dates: March 19 (2016)

Time: 6 a.m.-8 p.m.

Cost: $75

 

Hut Ski or Snowshoe Trip

Imagine a winter wonderland right at your front door. Join us for a ski hut trip in the Rockies and trek 4 miles to this amazing hut for an excellent skiing experience and great meals by a warm fire. 

 

Dates: March 4-6 and April 2-3, 2016

Time: 6 a.m. Saturday-7 p.m. Sunday

ICE CLIMBING

 

Beginner Ice Climbing

(Recommended Prerequisite: Climbing Wall Instruction)

Want to experience something unique and rewarding? Climb a frozen waterfall! Learn basic ice climbing movements and techniques while balancing on crampons and using ice climbing tools.

 

Date: Feb. 13, March 5 (2016)

Time: 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

Cost: $50 per person 

 

Intermediate Ice Climbing

Come join us and test your skills on vertical single and multi-pitch ice curtains. Lincoln Falls, located at the base of Mount Lincoln near Hoosier Pass, are amazing frozen waterfalls perfect for ice climbing.

 

Dates: Feb. 27, March 25 (2016)

Time: 6 a.m.-5 p.m.

Cost: $75

 

Ouray Ice Climbing Weekend

(Recommended Prerequisite: Beginner Ice Climbing)

Located in the Uncompahgre Gorge, Ouray Ice Park is devoted exclusively to the sport of ice climbing. Join the APE guides for a world-class weekend of ice climbing and exploring the unique mountain town of Ouray, CO.

 

Dates: Feb. 19-21, 2016

Time: 5 p.m. Friday-7 p.m. Sunday

Cost: $225

 

Mountaineering Weekend Trip

Learn basic mountaineering skills such as self-arrest, use of pickets and flukes, and traveling over snow with crampons and an ice axe. Enjoy a picturesque ascent on moderately steep snow or on a mixed route. Experience the freedom of the hills! Price includes all technical equipment, 2 lunches, & 2 breakfasts. 

 

Dates: April 8-10, 2016

SNOWSHOEING

 

Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing allows you to experience the solitude and serenity of our Colorado wilderness. Learn tips and techniques for traveling efficiently on snowshoes and take advantage of all the “Kodak Moments” along the way!

Time: 6 a.m.-6 p.m. (Pick up and drop off at the 8th Street Hobby Lobby.)Cost: $25 with snowshoe rental

SNOWMOBILING

 

Snowmobile Trips

This tour has it all: trail riding, road riding and plenty of free ride time! Visit three historic gold and silver mines and two operating quarries. Lunch included. Ages 15 & older can ride solo, ages 14 & under must ride as a passenger.
