Spring Photography Series


Grab your SLR and learn some new skills in our 3-part series photography class. Get ready to capture the breathtaking views at Garden of the Gods and Cheyenne Canyon. Learn the basics of photo manipulation using photoshop and iPhoto from an expert at the Outdoor Recreation Center.

GoPro Photography Course


Move beyond the helmet cam and selfie stick and get a new perspective on devices from the action sports experts at Fort Carson. Learn how to capture quality videos and pictures as well as editing, media storage and media sharing. Go Pros available or bring your own.

Full Moon Hike


Experience Colorado Springs trails by the light of the full moon. Please bring your own flashlight or headlamp. No sign-up required. Trip meets at the Outdoor Recreation Complex.

Halloween Trick or Treat Climb


Bring the young ones out for an afternoon of climbing and candy at the Alpine Tower Complex. Children can climb in their Halloween costumes and seek out the sweet taste of success! Call 526-5366 to pre-register or stop

White Water Rafting at Big Horn

Sheep Canyon


Enjoy a fun and wild ride through Big Horn Sheep Canyon on the mighty Arkansas River. You role is key as your guide calls out commands and steers you through some of Colorado’s most classic rapids. No experience is

necessary (individuals must be able to swim, weigh a minimum of 60 lbs., and be at least 8 years old). 12 spots available. Reserve your trip today!

Royal Gorge White Water Rafting

Family Full Day Raft Trip


Whitewater rapids, swimming, splashing, and play are the emphasis on this full day excursion on the Arkansas River. Journey twice the

distance of our regular raft trip! No experience necessary (Individuals must be able to swim, weigh a minimum of 60 lbs., and be 8+ years old).

Overnight Raft Trip


Experience exhilarating whitewater and sleep under the stars in Brown’s Canyon that night. This section of the Arkansas River is one of the most scenic runs in Colorado. There’s nothing like whitewater, camping, having fun with friends, and getting away from it all while on the river!


Dates: June 27-28; July 4-5; July 25-26

Time: Saturday 8 a.m. – Sunday 5 p.m.

Kayak Pool Session


Gain critical equipment knowledge, basic paddling skills, and the kayak roll, all in the comfort of a heated indoor pool. Master these skills and get ready for moving water. Class meets at Outdoor Recreation. All equipment

Kayaking Weekend


(Mandatory Prerequisite Kayak Pool Session)

Start Saturday kayaking Class I-II sections of the river andspend the night under the stars. Begin Sunday morning on an intermediate Class II-III section of whitewater learning to read and respond to the river’s current. Class

meets at Outdoor Recreation.


Dates: Sept. 5-6

Time: Thurs. 5:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m., Sat. 7:30 a.m.–Sun. 5 p.m.

Inflatable Kayaking


Learn about river safety and enjoy a day in the sun while exploring a class I-II section of the river. No experience necessary. Individuals must be 14 or older, must be able to swim and weigh a minimum of 100 lbs.

Climbing Wall Orientation


This class provides certification to climb the indoor climbing walls located at the Outdoor Recreation Center & Iron Horse Gym. Knots,

belay techniques and climbing communication are covered in this introductory lesson.

Outdoor Rock


(Recommended Prerequisite: Climbing Wall Orientation)

Learn the skills to start climbing on your own. These full-day courses cover technical aspects of climbing, like basic anchors, route cleaning,

rappelling, and beginner lead climbing.

Evening in the Garden

Experience a “Purple Mountains Majesty” during Colorado twilight hours. Evening rock climbing class meets at Garden of the Gods Visitor Center.

Morning in the Garden

Experience a morning rock climbing adventure and ascend the rock formations in Garden of the Gods. Class meets at Garden of the Gods

11 Mile Canyon Climbing Weekend


(Recommended Prerequisite: Climbing

Explore 11 Mile Canyon’s granite walls under the instruction of local climbing experts. Class focuses on traditional climbing skills, anchors and placing protection.

New Mexico Climbing Weekend

Enjoy Sugarite Canyon’s scenic camping areas and explore a variety of single pitch climbing routes during this weekend of adventure!

How to Mountain Bike 


Make the transition from just riding around to mountain biking. Come join our instructors one evening after work. Learn to ride over obstacles, climb, descend, and turning in the rough stuff. This course starts easy and moves through tougher terrain.

How to Mountain Bike

Park Tool School: New Rider



Learn to work on your own bike using official Park Tool curriculum. Class covers tire repair, bike cleaning, shifting/braking adjustments and
